Iowa is a pretty dull state. I hate being away from home in most instances, and Christmas is definitely one of them. This trip made me really skeptical about being away from home for good in a few months. It's no wonder why all musicians from the midwest are so depressed. Everyone there seems so flat, and it's really grey and cold/snowey.
Fuck.
Christmas was good, and so was seeing a bunch of relatives that I haven't seen for 5 or 6+ years. Especially my uncle and his "life partner," both of whom are way more hilarious and interesting than anyone else in my mom's family.
I finally saw No Country For Old Men. As expected, it was orgasmic and no one else in my family really liked it that much.
Also saw I Am Legend, which was better than I thought it would be. I got into a really upsetting argument with my brothers and sister afterward while everyone else was out to dinner. Most of my other time was spent reading/listening to music and wishing I could go home.
Now I'm home and pissed off/frustrated for no real reason after days of wanting nother other than to be at home. Augh!

2007: there was muzak
since it's the time of the year that everyone compiles music-related lists in their blogs, I figured it was time to jump the bandwagon. This list will be pretty poorly sequenced.
2007 playlist:
"The Sons of Cain" - Ted Leo and the Pharmacists
"We've Got Everything" - Modest Mouse
"Horse Hunter" - The Dillinger Escape Plan
"Bottom of the World" - Tom Waits
"Bodysnatchers" - Radiohead
"Floorplan" - Tegan and Sara
"Phantom Limb" - The Shins
"None Shall Pass" - Aesop Rock
"Your English Is Good" - Tokyo Police Club
"Ocean of Noise" - The Arcade Fire
"Start the Show" - Common
"Semi-Fiction" - The Fall of Troy
"No I in Threesome" - Interpol
"Hot Thang" - Talib Kweli
"Wanderlust King" - Gogol Bordello
"Paper Planes" - M.I.A.
Album of the year (to me at least): "The Con" - Tegan and Sara. I didn't pick the actual album up until two days ago, but I already had the majority of the songs in some form or another on my computer, and I found myself listening to it more than anything else that came out this year. I would have never expected to get into them, since I wrote them off as lame dyke folk/pop that struck me as some kind of cross between Melissa Etheridge, Le Tigre, and Alvin and the Chipmunks when I first heard them a few years ago, but I gave them another chance when this album came out, and was very pleasantly surprised. Their songwriting is solid and original while still managing to be catchy, and the songs have a real sincerity about them that stuck out to me more so than anything else I heard this year (which is a difficult feat when their competition is bands like Radiohead, The Arcade Fire, and Ted Leo).
That's all.

I lasted about 6 days. In the end I gave in without much of a struggle after several days of putting up a pretty good fight.
The good news is that it's probably going to be another three days or so until I'm horny. yeahyeahyeahsexytimewithmyself
This week is going to go by pretty slow. Then I get to go to Iowa, which I'm pretty neutral about. I would rather be at home for Christmas (esecially since it's my last one in this house and everything), but it's only four days so it won't suck up too much of my time.
I'm listening to The Art of Drowning for the first time in a pretty long while. It still holds up well and makes me dislike what has become of my former favorite band, circa 7th grade (I added that in just to remind everyone that I'm an elitist douche who brags about how long much longer he's liked bands than everyone else).

time to be cryptic
I feel like the majority of my life is a series of situations that I handle in the worst way possible.
And it's not like bitching in my blog is going to change that, or that anyone who reads this isn't going to see my last dumb choice as anything other than something I wrote in my blog that really isn't that big of a deal and is just a result of me failing to realize that I should just get my shit together and think things through before I do them.

At least I still have Predasus.

discoveries
as of lately are as follows:
- Liars. Not people, but the band. Awesome/weird/abrasive post-punk.
- I'm usually not willing to venture out into the snow unless I have a good reason. Too much putting on and taking off clothes, being both sweaty and cold at the same time, limited activities, not ideal running conditions... no good.
- How awesome the Japanese are at making spazcore, noisecore, and other assorted cores. See: Melt Banana, The Boredoms, Boris (even though they aren't any of the above mentioned genres)
- How much I love lesbian twins from Canada. I would assume there's more than one pair of them out there, and they might also be hot and make good music that's kind of embarrassing to admit that you listen to.
- Embarrassing is spelled embarrassing, not emberassing.
- Block structure porn. This is kind of a rediscovery, since it was on my favorites list from forever ago and I forgot about it.
- My mom is a liar and a cheat when it comes to giving me coffee that isn't decaffinated and shitty.
- Actually doing work in study hall is a pretty novel concept. So is doing work altogether.
- I frequently make the above realization over and over again, and usually don't act on it or only act on it for a short period of time before returning to my old ways.
- The number of people growing their hair out these days is on a steady decline. Will I hop the bandwagon?
- I'm pretty sure that social networking is also declining slowly but surely. Then again, people will always be trying to look cool or come off as funnier than they actually are (shit...), so who knows.

yeah...
I drew a picture of an orgy last night. Well, sort of an orgy. It actually wasn't that graphic. And then I just ended up drawing in the lochness monster and Charlie Brown dressed like a ghost and smoking crack, and two bees that were siamese twins and both only had one eye. Maybe I'll scan it tomorrow.
I guess I sort of replaced writing with ameturish drawings as far as a newfound hobby/vent goes. I go through phases with hobbies and music at about the same rate that people go through tampons, which is really only brief periods of time on a larger scale of things.
My motivation in school has now completely run out. Things not related to school are really not helping with this and kind of bringing back slumps similar to ones from last year. But then again, that's just as of this week, meaning that I'll probably feel different pretty soon. Hopefully.

Bears
I picked up an application from Casapulas today. Let's keep our fingers crossed on this one because I need some moneyz pretty badly.
I think there is some kind of requirement that you have to look a little bit like Kevin Federline to get hired at 5 Guys. I don't know why else they would hire everyone else who works there and turn me down. I mean, I'm not saying I'm the most clean cut person ever, but everyone who works there looks like they're going to be on the Maury Pulvich show some day.
My neighbor's mom walked downstairs last night and saw me cruising through the refrigerator for the third time that night. I felt pretty uncomfortable.
Refrigerator and scissors are the hardest words to spell ever.

In all actuality
being drunk doesn't really improve the quality of my posts.
At leat I can still crack my neck really well.
note: despite popular belief, not being joe and leaving a comment on here does not make you creepy. I do have a link to this posted in my profile afteer all.

a cunt supreme, part 2

Nothing noteworthy has really happened lately.
School is getting old pretty fast. I always feel really focussed and on top of things in the morning, but by the time lunch rolls around I'm ready to headbutt the wall.
I feel like school hinders me socially just because I'm usually so sour about being there that I don't have that much to say to anyone. This is especially true of Sallies, which isn't exactly the most stimulating social enviroment in the first place.
The lack of girls and kids who aren't rich and white (despite what they choose to believe) cripples any social aspect of high school for me. I feel like crucial life lessons and learning experiences are left out because of these two missing factors.
Some might argue that the lack of girls allows you to be less self-conscious. But, as someone who can't always relate to conversations about professional football and which Padua girl with the personality of a woodplank everyone supposedly fucked over the weekend or is planning to fuck, I can honestly say that I do relate to girls more than guys in some cases, especially if that means not always having shallow, stupid conversations and doing my damndest to upkeep being a stereotypical male.
The lack of diversity causes everyone to feel like they have to fit some kind of bullshit mold instead of celebrating their differences, and it's a big crock of shit.
Coming soon: Less ranting and more jokes about my penis.

- Dogs and all other animals

- Weather of all types
- Water
- Good teachers
- Lion's Head for being cheap and not tasting like shit.

- Q-tips, soap, shampoo, and anything else that keeps me clean.
- Running
- Cancer sticks, especially before running

Hm.
I fixed this so anyone can comment, including people who aren't registered members. This will set me up for dissapointment when I realize that the only person who reads this is Joe.
I came to the realization that the only thing to do with my current situation is to have the best time that I can possibly have for my last 8 months in PA, and come back here to go to college. It will basically be like spending a year in a place where I don't know anyone, which sounds exciting, and then coming back. So far this hasn't worked out that well since I haven't done much of anything but sit around the house, but whatever.
I watched Requiem For a Dream a little while ago. I might have to watch it again because I'm not really sure what to think of it. There's too much going on at once by the end.
I thought this was funny, though. I would have posted it as an embed but I'm not sure how. http://youtube.com/watch?v=IdXngAB8Zbw

the more signfigant thing that I had to say
was that I'm moving to Minnesota next summer.
More details later. But for now, let me know if you would be willing to hide me in your room, let me sleep there, feed me, etc.
I won't be much trouble.

I guess the most signifigant thing that happened this weekend was that my attitude toward football was changed. Both of the games that I took the time to watch (one in which I was actually there and the other which I watched on TV) actually managed to grab my attention at the fourth quarter, which is the best time to start paying attention. What I like the most is that it's so suspenseful. I'll never become one of those people who has arguments about The Eagles being better than the Cowboys or any shit like that, but I do have a little bit of a newfound respect for it.
Like a lot of other things, I found that I liked football once I gave it a chance, but the reason that I was skeptical and the first place (and still am as far as saying that I will ever be a full-fledged fan goes) is because of the subculture of douche bags that sorrounds it. I can't help but to feel that I will somehow automatically get into the spirit of being a douche bag by sharing similar interests with them.
But then you could say that I'm already a douche bag anyway, and it's just for other reasons.
Friday night consisted of the football game that was mentioned above, and also quality time with The Gallagher family (most of it at least) and Christian. The rest of the weekend was pretty uneventful.
I have something more signifigant to say, but I'm not at liberty to do so until later the week. Just thought I would leave everybody (hardly anyone) in suspense.

crimes against humanity
- Father Kifilo's taste in music. It goes in patterns of the worst country music I've ever heard, bad nu metal, bad techno, and completely random shit like barbershop quartet. I know he's a priest, but what the fuck?
- Father Kifilio's class. I didn't sign up to make a little box or make diagrams from how light to dark you can scribble with your pencil. I signed up to draw indians and cans of baked beans and he ruined everything. The only semi-cool thing I've done all year is draw a bunch of unrelated stuff that he put on a table. I chose a bowl of fruit, a headless manekin (which he probably has because he's a serial killer), and some leaves.
That's all, really. And yes, I'm still bitter about those indians. They had so much potential.

so...
Through having met a few people at Sallies this year who are actually pretty cool, I'm toying with the idea of going to my first school function.
For the most part, I see school events (especially ones at Sallies) as activities for kids who can't think of anything better to do, but considering how often I go to the grange I really don't have any room to talk.
It always seems like when I branch out and do something different with a group of people outside of my regular friends, I usually miss something really eventful that happened amongst said regular friends, and didn't have enough fun the new group of people to really compensate for whatever it is that I missed out on.
But, we'll see.
As much as a girlfriend would be great right now, another part of me is still too damn content with everything else that is going on to care. Not that I ever feel the need to latch on to someone in order to be happy (if you do that, go fuck yourself), but it seems more like it would just be a welcomed addition to my life more than a necessity whenever it actually decides to happen. Part of me feels weird for still never having properly been with a girl and being almost seventeen, but the other part of me still doesn't really care. Things usually fall into place, ya'know?
Notice how I actually wrote something relevant to my life as of late and didn't try to be clever or funny once this entire post. Upgrade or downgrade?
Dry skin and Miss Widdoes are the current banes of my existence.

small feats, huge feet; big fucking snapping turtles
Snapping turtles are like regular turtles that were raped repeatedly throughout their entire lives and ended up as cracked out bag ladies, that carry around rusty knives and use them too much.
Yesterday as much of a trancendentalist experience as you can have at the Somerset club. It was followed by chilling on a stoop, too much coffee, and finally being awake until 4 in the A.M. thinking my entire body was going to fail me or that the snapping turtle was going to come back to bite my throat out.
Anywho, there have been a lot of rumors floating around about me lately, so I will lay them to rest in order of which ones starting to circulate first.
- Over the summer I did kill a man using only my penis.
- I did not ever record a Christmas album with Alvin and the Chipmunks.
- I did not do a backflip upon exiting the womb and having my umbilical chord cut.
- My favorite smell is water.
- I did once eat so much yogurt that my tears were a green paste, and so was my urine.
- I really can't construct a good joke without including my penis or something else sex related or disgusting.
- I did not get shot in the back of the neck by a stray cannon ball, but I did once run into a sliding glass door thinking it was open.
- I once contracted lyme disease from drinking bad gatorade.
- I do sometimes run out of ideas.

Oh week, you have been so relentlessly mediocore.
I'm not sure if your face can actually get stuck in place if you keep making the same face, but I hope not. My jaw has been stuck in a really tight position all day. I also grind my teeth without knowing that I'm doing it, which is probably also problem-causing.
Five Guys' food is diarrhea disguised as delcious burgers.
My posts are getting mighty lazy.

it's an update.
Another good weekend. I put out a fire (srysly), bought some new clothes, collected a lot of new music, almost got fucked over, got fucked over (and up), sort of paid someone back, and more.
Let's all hope there's more to say tomorrow.

funerals, falling into bushes, etc.
This has been a weird week to say the least. I'm not going to get into this a whole lot, because I honestly didn't know Joe Boxler that well and I think there isn't much else to say that hasn't already been said, but suffice to say that seeing just about every person you know being collectively sad over something you know you would be equally sad about had you known the person better is pretty shitty, though not nearly as terrible as it is for the people who knew Joe and were friends/family members.
The weekend was otherwise epic and action-packed and involves me making an idiot out of myself many times over, but instead of going into specifics I will just give you a list of things that raise my blood pressure, give me nosebleeds, and will probably cause me to become impotent by the time I'm 23.
- The delete button on my keyboard not working.
- Mowing the lawn
- The people who live behind my house, who can plant trees past their property line but can't be bothered by mowing past it, and the area happens to be a hill that it is a complete pain in my vagina to mow.
- Calling someone or something unamerican. This entire country was founded on the belief that you can do whatever you want without anybody telling you otherwise, which makes labeling something as unamerican unamerican. Idiots.
- Not being sure what punctuation to use when you use the same word twice in a row.
- Those anti-smoking ads that feature that douchey looking college know-it-all guy with the weird hair.
- Douchey looking college kids who think they know everything

- Calling someone or something unamerican. This entire country was founded on the belief that you can do whatever you want without anybody telling you otherwise, which makes labeling something as unamerican unamerican. Idiots.
- Not being sure what punctuation to use when you use the same word twice in a row.
- Those anti-smoking ads that feature that douchey looking college know-it-all guy with the weird hair.
- Douchey looking college kids who think they know everything

shit.
I wrote a pretty epic english paper last night that took about two hours to complete, only to hand it in and find out that it was supposed to be double spaced.
Hopefully my essay is solid enough to make up for it, not to mention that it would equal out to at least 4 or 5 pages after being double spaced, which is twice the minimum.
Fuck formatting, though. It's a big pile of bullshit that takes off far too many points for only being a minor mistake.
I came to the conclusion that milk only tastes good when it's used at meals to wash down food. By itself it is disgusting and makes your spit sticky and leaves a weird aftertaste.
I wonder who had the idea to first try milk. Did they sample bodily fluids from a whole bunch of other animals before they decided that a cow's was the best? I guess they made the right choice since milk is good for you and tastes good on the condition mentioned above, but still. Did some pervert neanderthal who was attracted to cows discover how good their titty juice tasted with meals? However it was discovered, I'm sure it wouldn't sit right with me and would have undertones of beastality.

a big barrel of nothing
There's a lot of gross shit inbetween and underneath my keyboard. I don't know if there's a very good way to get rid of that.
I finally found a loophole in art class that will allow me to do an indian-related masterpiece. One of my projects is to make a picture involving one of your most memorable dreams. I don't think my art teacher would appreciate a picture of animals eating and otherwise doing really strange things with a group of semi-famous TV characters (this was a nightmare; not a wet dream), so I guess I have to make something up.
One morning when I feel up to it I will doccument my bus ride. It has to be later in the week, though. I'm still content from the weekend.

a cunt supreme
School is miserable as expected, but whatever. At least my classes are easy so far.
I have to go to a M.A.D.D (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) meeting tonight. It's good on my probation officer's part to assume that because I got caught in the act of trying to drink beer I support drunk driving to the point that I have to go to a meeting where I will probably have to hear sad stories about people getting killed and feel bad about something I will probably never do.
My hopes that my cell phone might break were dashed when I accidentally dropped it off of a balcony this weekend. I'm stuck with you forever, outdated but practical phone. It's not that I want a phone that's top of the line or anything, I just want something a little bit nicer. About 75% of the features on my phone don't work for some reason. The worst part is that I can't play tetris.
Shit.

nu metal, nu blog
First post. woot.
I wish I could automatically draw well so I could make pictures of indians without having to sit through art class.
My schedule is pretty good this year, but I never cross paths with anyone inbetween classes anymore. I need to make new routes. Also, all the freshman on my bus decided to live far away so the bus ride can be an extra half hour to 45 minutes. Thanks a lot.
More posts to come. Pictures of Indians doing cool things like riding polar bears and shaking hands with astronauts in the future if I'm lucky.
