You don't have to bring in the new year. It comes by itself.

It has become sort of a tradition for me to watch South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut on Comedy Central every new years eve. It's weird to consider it a tradition because I don't ever plan on watching it or remember that it's going to be on, but somehow around 12 o'clock after I've watched the ball drop on a poorly done news program (this year it was counted down by the guy who had the stroke - I mean, I know he's old and probably a huge staple on the network and it was nice to let him do it, but something was sort upsetting about hearing a grown man struggling with "'en, 'ine, eighgggt, sven, sssix, fyyve..." right before the ball drops) I remember that it's on, and watch it, and it's always as moderately/mostly funny as it was when I watched it the year before. However, this event always does a poor job of summing up my year as a whole; where I feel like so many things have changed and I experienced so many new things that were both good and bad in the past year, it always begins with watching the same 80 minute movie for lack of anything else to do. It's like the one staple in my life that is always there, because even when I find something to do on new years, it's not eventful enough to make watching it seem like an illogical cease of activity.

But shit, it's a new decade. That's pretty exciting, right?
