Successfully hopping a fence in one slick motion without any problem makes you feel so cool! But before you start assuming that I've made new friends and am having all kinds of fence-hopping adventures, this took place in my back yard and it was only to get rid of my cigarette butt.
My history teacher commented on my paper that it didn't sound like I wrote it myself. I wrote almost all of it based on what I learned in Mr. Quinn's class last year. lolz
AIM is a really shitty way to maintain friendships. It's way better than nothing, but still. It's just not the same!

so, school
Yesterday I had to make a presentation in Spanish class. I had to bring in 5 objects that had something to do with family, friends, a favorite vacation, something I'm proud of, and my hobbies. Pretty easy. For some reason when it was my turn to present I got those really nervous rush as I stood in front of the class, and I was staring downward the whole time and probably mumbling the entire presentation, and the hand I was holding out pictures with was shaking a lot. I don't really know where that came from. I've always hated talking in front of the class, but I'm not particularly afraid of anyone in the class (at least I don't think I am), so... huh.
that's kind of irrelevant to what I'm getting at, which that like I said last entry, I just don't feel up to the whole process of making new friends/being social/going out of my way to meet people. I don't think anyone at school knows I'm new, which isn't really their fault (it's a big school), and maybe I don't wear enough cool band tshirts or something. Who knows. The upside to my recent borderline hermitage is that I ride a bike down the trail for like 3 hours every day, and I don't have anything better to do otherwise but get work done.

new world observations, extended
There is a path near my house, which sounds familiar, except that other people use it, and to get there you have to walk through roughly half a mile of raging traffic on the street that you turn into my neighborhood from. Walking my dog is a nightmare, and I feel like I should have a sign on my back that says "Hit me if you're drunk!"
About last week my dog came down with kennel cough (it was probably all the pet areas at the rest stops, which are obviously disgusting). I tried to take him for a walk, and in the face of all the oncoming traffic, he starts to gag heavily and cough up gross phlegm-type stuff, and then his leash snaps off along with his identifying tags in the middle of all this chaos. Luckily, Duffer doesn't really process these kinds of things very quickly, so I grabbed him before he realized he could make a run for it.
That's about all that I do with my time now. I have a new student orientation later tonight, where I can sit in a room with mostly freshman and hear about how drug-sniffing dogs are sent through the school and how their teachers and staff are top notch and things like that.
I'm sort of close to getting my license, but not if the Pennsylvania DMV has anything to say about it. I went and took the written test (which is almost 3 times longer than the PA one) and passed, and only needed to have my driving records faxed to Minnesota, and then will be able to take my road test. Naturally, this would be far too easy of a thing for the Pennsylvania DMV, who have seemed to get a really big boner out of inconveniencing me this past year. They don't do faxes, so I have to go online, print a sheet out, fill out it out, mail it to them, and then they will fax my driving record to Minnesota. The only thing is, my permit expires in October, so if I don't pass my road test be then, I'll be fucked.
I think that's about all. Naturally I miss everyone and I have nothing to do except read and sit on the computer or watch shitty movies on HBO, but I start school next week so hopefully some oppurtunities will present themselves (even though I don't really want new friends or to be here in the first place). Woo!

first blog entry of the new world
Monumental.
I'll probably edit this with a more detailed description later, but... so far Minnesota is kind of disappointing. I didn't want to move anyway, but I thought maybe it would be cool enough here to make up for not being in PA anymore.
First problem: My next door neighbors all own boats. Something about this bothers me. When I say boats I don't mean yachts or something snobby and obnoxious, but fishing boats. Maybe it bothers me because it looks like somewhere I would go on vacation, whereas I was hoping for somewhere that seems really suburban like Somerset Lake.
Second problem: I scoped out the town that takes about a 20-minute walk to get to from my house, and much to my chagrin there was no record store or place that looked like somewhere obnoxious amounts of teengagers would loiter.
I think Duffer is speaking for the rest of us when he pisses all over the carpet. Even though it's because he's confused, his message rings true.

"so, uh..." (part 5)
The next time I'm able to use a computer I probably won't be in PA anymore. It's getting packed away tomorrow.
Then all my other stuff will get packed away, and then our water and electricity will be shut off. We'll have to start a styrofoam fire in what used to be the living room, and we will sit on the floor where our furniture used to be and eat old macaroni and cheese and sing songs.
That last part obviously isn't true, even though that would be pretty cool. But I am rellocating, and my computer is the first thing to go because the movers want me to having nothing to do but stare at the wall until we actually hit the road.
I'm going to beatoff a dead horse for a second here: I don't know how to proccess most of this. I can't process anything once it initially happens. It's like if my hand got chopped off I wouldn't notice much until the next time I needed to use a can opener or masturbate or draw a picture. It's all so confusing!

Reiteration: Why listening to bands before you go see them is in fact, bad luck.
Kind of on a whim after deciding to skip out on the Warped Tour in Camden this past Friday, I decided to join Blair for another date two days later and make the three hour journey to Scranton, PA (insert jokes about The Office here). I woke up early, applied sunscreen that it turns out I didn't need, and went on my way. As soon as I got in the car, The Street Dogs were playing. Any superstitions about this situation were put to rest by the fact that I had no intention of seeing the Street Dogs that day. After that (we may have listened to The Germs first, I can't really remember) I decided to pop in Anchors Aweigh by The Bouncing Souls in an attempt to hype myself up for seeing them for the second time later that day. After about two tracks, rain clouds rolled in and about halfway through the CD it started to pour rain as we were making our way into the mountains. We went through a tunnel and came out on the other side to find that it had stopped raining, although the weather still looked questionable, and once the CD finished I decided to put in a band that I knew we weren't going to see that day, just in case.
But the damage was done. Once we finally got off the exit and were literally about two miles from the parking lot, we got caught in the concert traffic thanks to the excellent planning on the part of whoever organized it, in which there was only one two way road that lead to where the concert was. We sat in traffic for an hour, and not-so-uncharacteristically, I felt like my kidneys were going to pop from how badly I had to go to the bathroom and how long I had been holding it for. I ended up leaving in the car in the traffic jam to go find somewhere to relieve myself, and met up with Blair once that was over with. We viewed the really poorly put together band listing, and much to our chagrin, we had missed Against Me! (Blair had also missed The Street Dogs. Hmm...), and The Bouncing Souls were nowhere to be found on the band listing despite what the website had informed me of the night before. I later found out that the website was wrong, and they hadn't planned to play that day.
And then it started raining again. By rain I don't mean a nice drizzle or even a gentle stream, I mean one that was equivalant to several billion multiplications of the piss I had taken about an hour earlier when I ran out of the car with my legs squeezed together. The crowd errupted into chaos, a tent blew over, everyone was scrambling for cover and then being told to get out of the tents by people who worked there, while they sat comfortably under them being dry, and thus retaining the sand in their vaginas. Then it started hailing while I was squished inbetween a mass of people that were all getting collectively more and more pissed off as hailstones pelted the backs of their necks (this was another brilliant setup by whoever organized this event, because this one particular area was congested with people the entire day, and there was no way to get around), and then I try and seek refuge in a tent packed with people, all of whom told me to get out. Before this I had tried to duck under Against Me!'s tent to at least keep my head dry and thinking I could also meet them at the same time, but someone decided to hit the top of the tent, and all of the water that had been sitting on the top poured directly on me. I whimpered a little bit on the inside and then kept going. So anyway, I made my way over to the tent where I had been seperated from Blair about an hour ago (he spent the entire time dry inside a stage that had a huge tent over it), and once I got in there it was too packed with people for me to get in, so I decided I could at least get close to it and feel the warmth of the 10,000 kids that ranged from ugly to kind of ugly that were packed together inside. Eventually I managed to hop over the guard rail, and then it stopped raining about 5 minutes later, and by this point I was soaked beyond redemption.
So, the moral of the story here is that Warped Tour sucks and is usually not worth it in a way, but was definitely not worth it this year.

hot laundry:
You feel good no matter what the temperature is!
Yesterday I went to Saint Joe's to look around and watch a boring powerpoint. I don't really know what to think of it yet; I haven't visited any other colleges and have nothing else to compare it to. Also, while our guide was talking I kept imagining how cool it would be to jump from the bridge that we were on to the side of the dorm building, which had a weird little area that you could stand on outside of the window and then jump into the bushes from.
Last night on the way home from seeing The Dark Knight, a cat ran out and front of Matt's car and was hit dead-on before there was any time to react. I felt pretty terrible about this for the next 30 seconds, until a strange smell filled the car and I realized it was a skunk. I didn't feel as bad about that.
